The story of an exhibition that brought together technology, comics, and pop culture
Starting June 29, 2025, the All About Apple Museum in Savona hosted one of its most evocative and well-attended initiatives of recent years: the exhibition “Apple and Martin Mystère: An Endless Love”, a one-of-a-kind project celebrating the deep connection between the Apple world, the iconic character Martin Mystère, and his creator Alfredo Castelli.

The exhibition was conceived as a tribute to Alfredo Castelli, who passed away in 2024, the historic creator and writer of Martin Mystère, the famous “Detective of the Impossible.” The initiative stemmed from a friendship and shared vision with Elio Ottonello—an author connected to the Bonelli universe—and successfully combined storytelling, technology, and collective memory.
Through original comic pages, installations, and historic Apple computer models, the exhibition traced how Martin Mystère was the first Bonelli hero to use a personal computer in his adventures, at a time when technology was still pioneering. This element made the exhibition not only a tribute to comics, but also a reflection on the role of technology in our cultural imagination. A major highlight for fans and collectors was the presentation of the previously unpublished issue “Martin Mystère and the Missing Computer” set in Savona itself. The story, intertwining mystery, technology, and the city, was conceived as a sort of narrative treasure hunt through the city streets and the evocative spaces of the museum’s warehouse.
The exhibition was not the only event dedicated to the theme of comics and technology. On September 27, the event “Gulp! Computers, Comics and Apples” was organized in collaboration with Progetto HMR. The meeting explored the surprising intersections between the history of computing and the world of comics, offering in-depth insights and engaging testimonies for enthusiasts and curious visitors alike.
During its months of opening, the exhibition attracted great interest not only from technology and comic book enthusiasts, but also from those who found in the display a journey through the cultural memory of recent decades. The collaboration between the All About Apple Museum, the Municipality of Savona, AMys, and Sergio Bonelli Editore brought to light previously unseen aspects of Martin Mystère’s stories and of the relationship between comics and technological innovation.
After months of visits, events, and discussions, the exhibition closed on December 28, 2025, leaving a significant cultural legacy: a bridge between past and future, between comic book storytelling and the technological tools that shaped an era.
