The All About Apple Museum in Savona is proud to present the exhibition “Beaulieu: film cameras for passion – The Walter Franceschi Collection”, a tribute to an extraordinary figure who dedicated his life to his passion for technology and vintage cinematography.
Walter Franceschi, a passionate collector and a point of reference in the world of Beaulieu cameras, has over the years amassed a unique heritage, creating the world’s most comprehensive collection of these prestigious French devices. The Beaulieu cameras, considered the “Rolls Royce” of amateur cinematography, are famous for their extraordinary quality and for having been used at historic moments, such as the filming of the Tiananmen Square protests.
The exhibition showcases an exclusive selection of Beaulieu cameras and projectors, in perfect working order thanks to the careful restoration work of Walter Franceschi, who has kept them alive through research and the use of original spare parts. Each example tells a story of innovation and passion, testifying to the attention to detail and love for precision mechanics that characterised Franceschi’s work.
In addition to the cameras, the exhibition explores the special bond between Franceschi and Apple. His collection of Apple products, including iconic and rare pieces, contributed significantly to the growth of the All About Apple Museum, so much so that the museum was dedicated to him in gratitude. Among the exhibits, it will be possible to admire the first iPhone that arrived at the museum in 2007 thanks to Franceschi, a symbol of his foresight and deep connection with the world of technology.
‘This exhibition is a heartfelt tribute to Walter Franceschi, a friend and mentor to our community,’ says Alberto Ferraro, president of All About Apple ODV. ‘Through his passion and dedication, he left an indelible imprint that we want to share with the public.’
The exhibition ‘Beaulieu: film cameras for passion – The Walter Franceschi Collection’ will be on display at the All About Apple Museum in Savona from 1 February to 15 June 2025. An unmissable occasion for technology and film enthusiasts, eager to discover the encounter between two apparently distant worlds, united by the vision and passion of an extraordinary man.
