On Sunday, June 29 at 11:00 AM, the All About Apple Museum in Savona will inaugurate the exhibition “Apple and Martin Mystère: An Endless Love”, a tribute to Alfredo Castelli, who passed away in 2024, the historic creator and scriptwriter of the famous Detective of the Impossible.

The event also marks the presentation of the special comic issue “Martin Mystère and the Missing Computer”, an unpublished story set in Savona, featuring the city’s beauty and the evocative setting of the museum’s warehouse, as the backdrop to a mysterious technological treasure hunt.

For years, the Apple Museum has been part of the Savona Museum Network, contributing to the city’s cultural enrichment. In this context, the Municipality of Savona has supported and sponsored the exhibition, which explores the deep connection between comics and innovation, showcasing—through original pages and rare Apple computers—how Martin Mystère was the first Bonelli hero to use a personal computer.

A pioneering role also held by his creator: Alfredo Castelli was the first writer at Sergio Bonelli Editore to introduce a word processor into the editorial office.

The Apple Museum, a gem of our museum system,” says Culture Councillor Nicoletta Negro, “presents a unique exhibition and a publication that puts Savona in the spotlight through an exciting Martin Mystère mystery.

It’s a great opportunity to introduce our city to a wide audience of comic fans, who I’m sure will fall in love with Savona too.”

Over the years, the museum has become a cultural excellence for Savona and the entire region, thanks to passionate volunteers who, through their love for Apple, have expanded the collection and promoted its historical significance.

“This exhibition pays tribute to Alfredo Castelli and for the first time reveals the unique atmosphere of our warehouse, where we preserve Apple product donations from around the world,” explains Alessio Ferraro, founder and curator of the museum. “The event was inspired by Elio Ottonello, while the comic concept came from a long-held dream of mine: a story set in Savona and our warehouse. Elio helped build the script within Martin Mystère’s universe, and artist Valentino Forlini brought it to life. With the support of AMys and Sergio Bonelli Editore, the project became a reality blending storytelling, memory, and love for Savona.”

Among the key partners is Fondazione De Mari CR Savona, which has supported the museum from the beginning, not only financially but also by sharing its values. “Every contribution has been a sign of trust and motivation to keep doing our best, and the success of this cultural event is the direct result.”

“The first issues, published over forty years ago, show that Martin Mystère was the first Bonelli comic character to own and use a computer,” states Luca Del Savio, chief editor at Sergio Bonelli Editore. “The same goes for Alfredo Castelli, who first brought a word processor into our offices. The bond between the paper hero, his creator, and Apple computers is natural—transferring reality into comics. The panels on display highlight this unbreakable bond, showing that even Apple computers from Cupertino are part of the adventures of the Detective of the Impossible.”

The exhibition “Apple and Martin Mystère: An Endless Love” is organized in collaboration with AMys, Sergio Bonelli Editore, with support and sponsorship from the Municipality of Savona, and will be open to the public until December 28, 2025, during regular museum hours.
